Brightest Kind of Darkness

So, I've been a bit slow with my reading lately, which is SO unusual for me it's not even funny!

I just finished Lucid, which is the second book in the Brightest Kind of Darkness series by P.T. Michelle, and may I just say, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!

So this book continues on with Ethan and Nara, but Ethan's absent due to the fact that he's trying to patch up his relationship with his family. Nara's all alone and deathly misses Ethan and so to keep him in her thought's she's made him a journal with information about raven's, to try and help him with his tattoo.

I really really want to write more but I'm scared I'll give away the story, and I don't want to do that! I loved this book and was SO devastated when it ended at 3 am that I went and joined P.T Michelle's newsletter so I wouldn't miss out on anything! I have to say it was a little bit of a slow read and, literally, just when I get hooked it ends. I don't know if that was the intent, but the technique works if she wants people to continue reading her series!

I can't really expand except to say that I would definitely recommend this read, but read the first book first if you haven't already. There's nothing that stood out to me a particularly amazing, just an overall sense of wonderness (is that a word? Oh, who cares!) that eclipses the series. Some books get you hooked through the writing, other's the story. I think this is a bit of both!!

So, overall, I have one more comment, that has nothing to do with the book (and yes, I do like italics). Just to let anyone know that if they want to suggest a book for me to read then I'm open to suggestions and I'll post my review :)

Have fun reading!!

Heart on a Chain

Heyya!

So, I just finished reading Heart on a Chain by Cindy C Bennett, and may I say that it was AWESOME!

I've only ever cried in 2 books, and this was one of them (the other one was Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher). So, just an overview, and i'll try really hard not to give away the plot for those of you who have not read it yet.

Kate's been bullied for as long as she can remember, and consequently she's learned to hide in the shadows. Home is worse than school, due to her abusive mother and alcoholic father. Life hasn't been good since she was 9, and the loss of her only friend, Henry, didn't help.

It's now her senior year, and Henry has returned to find Kate a shadow of the bright, fun girl she once was. He's appalled by the bullying that is occurring to Kate and stops it and tries to earn her trust. Kate is doubtful and questions Henry's motives, even as she tries to fight the attraction.

That's all I feel I can safely say without going psycho and telling everybody everything I know about this book. Some of the reason's I like this book:

1) I feel that Cindy managed to stay realistic, at least in Kate's ideals, throughout the story. I know from personal experience that it's hard to stay true to real life and resist the temptation of a perfect cliche world. I comment Cindy on that, no matter how hard it may have been, and only hope that I find a Henry one day.

2) The characters had depth and many different layers, even though I think that some of those layers may not have been exposed, but there's definitely room for them and, if I wanted to there would be lot's of room for expansion.

3) Just one more point, even though I'm sure there's lot's more, is the way that she stuck with it. I was about 48% of the way through (my kindle is an AMAZING thing) and I thought it was gonna finish soon, so imagine my surprised delight when it continued for another 52% (I know I shouldn't be surprised, but you'd be amazed how many books finish and have the last 10% as a sneak-peak at another book, and yes, I know 53% was probably a stretch but, hey, I'm me!)

Well, i'm going to just make one final comment, READ THIS BOOK!!
Have fun reading, and any requests, just comment!
